3 interactive experiences / 1 challenge winner

At the heart of Shipcon 2021 will be the interactive experience Shipathon. During Shipcon Shipathon, young professionals will compete to solve virtual and Rotterdam live challenges culminating in a live pitch – will you win the challenge?

Challenge 1

What does it take to make our gateways futureproof? A port needs to prepare with longterm investments. What choices do we need to make today to reach 2050’s sustainability goals?

Challenge 2

Sustainable Shipbuilding

There are about 85,000 ships in the world with half of them at least 15 years old. Reuse of building materials has always been part of the marine industry, but can we go further than just reusing the old materials? This challenge will apply the strategies for a circular economy to the world of shipbuilding.

Challenge 3

Sustainable Ships

The transition to a sustainable economy requires shipowners to equip their ships with new systems in addition to switching to other fuels, energy carriers and propulsion mechanisms. What will the future hold and how do we tackle this crucial challenge?
